Hosted by IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (IEEE GRSS), the Mediterranean and Middle-East Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium 2020 (M2GARSS 2020) was held from March 9th to March 11th, 2020 in Tunis, Tunisia. The IEEE GRSS and the M2GARSS 2020 Steering Committee, were pleased to invite their participants to M2GARSS 2020 that was be the 1st Mediterranean and Middle-East (M2) regional symposium and contributed to gather M2 and world-class scientists, engineers and educators engaged in the fields of geoscience, remote sensing and related topics.
M2GARSS provided an ideal forum for obtaining up-to-date information about the latest developments, exchanging ideas, identifying future trends in your research area and making contacts with the international remote sensing community. With intensive and careful planning underway they anticipated a technical outstanding and most pleasant symposium. 📢Participation in the IEEE M2GARSS was open to all individuals interested in or working in the fields of geoscience and remote sensing; 📢📢 to all students and researchers who are interested in Geoscience and Remote Sensing technology 🛰🌍.
And because the event was one of its kind, a lot of sponsors supported the efforts and the ideas, such as:
IEEE GRSS SUP'COM had the pleasure to co-organize this 1st edition of Mediterranean and Middle-East Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. The 1st Regional GARSS in the world! And the hashtags #IEEE #GRSS #Geoscience #RemoteSensing #M2GARSS2020 #First_edition_of_Mediterranean_and_Middle_East_Geoscience_and_Remote_Sensing_Symposium were taking all over the place.

It was presented by the Prof.Adriano Campus from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia ,Spain
Here the focus was on the role played by females and junior professionals in the world of GRSS , they presented some of their work and got the chance to share ideas and similar interests and to encourage each other
Exciting right :D ? get ready for the fun of the day two

On the second day there were the Parallel Oral Sessions and the parallel Poster Sessions where participants nearly from all over the world came and presented their work and posters. Each participant projected his work and tried to define a specific problem related to his study field and the theme of GRSS and then presented the required results and solutions according to him, in a big meeting room and in front of judges, they were given limited time slots and their presentations were eventually evaluated by the judges. we can't deny it was so challenging especially during the covid-19 epidemic, but the best thing that in the poster presentations there where remote ones using the ZOOM application, each presenter also had a time slot of 3 minutes, 3 slides to present his main ideas, results in that short time and after all the remote poster presentations there where a 10 minutes audience interventions and questionnaire.
Here we can find the division of the participants according to their country of origin in both Orals and Posters:
And the demand to join each session was huge and from a total 118 candidature only 102 were accepted for the participation:
Theme: Agriculture & Hyperspectral Data Analysis
Theme: Water resources, Soil Moisture and Desertification Agriculture and Vegetation Land
Presented by the Prof.John Kerekes From the Rochester Institute of Technology, USA
In the end of the oral and poster sessions there where some time for a facebook frame dedicated to the M2GARSS event where all the attendees participated in the photo session
And the biggest event of the second day was the : Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition- M2GARSS 2020
It was organised by Madam Fayrouz Tambouri IEEE GRSS young professional ambassador and researcher scientist in germany : she prepared and well organised the competition with a the concept of presenting your thesis is only 3 minutes and it wasn’t only presential but also remote using the ZOOM application just like in the Poster sessions .
Evaluation committee:
Winners
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) challenges doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance in just three minutes.
